My Evaluation

This is my Media Studies evaluation where I have answered the questions:
1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

How I Made My Digipak and Poster

I have used InDesign to make my digipak and poster. For my front cover I have had to copy a parental advisory explicit content warning as my music video contains explicit language.
For my poster I have had to include Frank Apollo's social media platform for fans to follow and find out more information about the debut album and artist.
To add the social media platforms to my poster I have had to use Photo Shop to increase the darkness to fit the black background:
The original image of the social media platforms was grey which wouldn't fit into my black background for poster, so I have had to increase the darkness of the image.

My Poster

My poster includes the image used for the middle page of my digipak. I have used this image as it shows similarities to my front cover so is recognised when an audience sees the album.
I have used the same font as my album for the poster again to replicate the album so an audience will relate the two.
The font is larger and bolder for the album name 'Illusion' and single 'I Arise Because' so it stands out more than the other information as this is what will attract the audience the most.
Social media platforms shown are Twitter, Facebook and Instagram all compatible with the artist Frank Apollo.
At the top of the poster I have shown the release date of the album as it is ultimately the most important information as it will be the main source of information for the audience to buy the album.

My Digipak

My album is called 'Illusion' as my digipak does not feature my face therefore acts as an illusion to the audience as they cannot see the artist. The name 'Illusion' also gives off a sense of mystery which will enable the audience to begin to wonder what the album is about and intrigue them to hear it.

I have used a black and white filter and a white border around the picture in order to make my title and image stand out.

I have had to include the parental advisory explicit content warning due to there being explicit words within my music video.
However, I believe that this will increase sales as it implies the album is for 18+ and therefore the younger generation will want to buy it to seem rebellious.

This double page spread is in the middle of my digipak and this is where I have featured some of the lyrics and the chorus of my music video, I Arise Because, as it is a generic convention of digipaks.

I have put my 7 tracks on the back of my album. I have used an image where the background is out of focus so that my track names stand out.
I have included a barcode I have added from the internet as it is a generic convention of the back cover of a digipak.

I have used the font Copperplate Gothic Light on the back and middle of the album as it links in with my front cover font.

I have gone for a simple yet sophistic digipak design using the black and white filter and a clean easy to read font.
My inspiration came from the album Colour Of The Trap by Miles Kane:

The Target Audience

Danny Seth is a 23 year old, British rapper from London.
His target audience will therefore be of the younger generation, aged 16 - 30, as they are the main fans of the rap genre.
Being a London boy many of his fans will also be British as they will find it easier to relate to his music and character.
Signs that Danny appeals to this audience can be seen through his fashion, as it demonstrates that he is young and hip:

My target audience will be the same as Danny's as my album will also be of the rap genre.

LYRICS

Woke up and I'm feeling like the shit
Like a piece of motherfucking toilet paper
Best thing out my country
No one coming after me like a chaser
And just because I'm breaking overseas
I've got motherfuckers calling me a traiter,
But man I'll rep my city so damn hard
Like a viagra taker
Place your bets, it's time to take your wagers
Cause I'm about to blow like hookers for some paper
And if you doubted me, I'll catch you in the future cause I'll see you later
I don't need a helping hand, use it for some masturbating
I bet now they can see me, me?
I've got the game locked no key, key
And if you ask your bitch what her favourite letter in my name is
I bet that she say D

Woke up and I'm feeling like myself
I don't need nobody's help
I did it on my own two
I don't need nobody's help
I'm feeling like myself
I'm feeling like myself
I woke up, remembered
That I did it by myself

Uh, never asking for your help
Holding up my city like a fucking trouser belt
London where I'm repping, by my accent you can tell
And I'm always with my clique, rolling deep like Adele
Uh, molecule is how I smell
Bet your bitch wish that she could have me, need a well
Wanna hear a story? Well, I've got a few to tell
But I feel like I'm spitting fire, there's the warning, there's the bell
I ain't gotta tell you I'mma be the greatest
And I never grew up in the hood, unless it's by my necklace
23, I nearly completed my checklist
The British coming, I'm the rapping One Direction
Red ropes wrapped around my private section
Fuck you talking bout if I'm not in the conversation?
Never started from the bottom but I wrote this in the basement
I hope I adjusted your perception

Woke up and I'm feeling like myself
I don't need nobody's help
I did it on my own two
I don't need nobody's help
I'm feeling like myself
I'm feeling like myself
I woke up, remembered
That I did it by myself
